Our most recent retreat, Rooted Connection Couples Retreat was held March 29–April 5, 2025 at the breathtaking Haramara Retreat Center in Sayulita, Mexico. It was a powerful and transformative week of connection, healing, and growth for couples ready to deepen their relationship in a supportive, serene setting.

Whether you’re a therapist seeking relationship retreat options for your clients or a couple looking for a guided, meaningful getaway—our retreats offer yoga, expert-led workshops, sacred ceremonies, and time to reflect and reconnect.

Read Dr. Jim Kemp’s reflection on the experience below, along with testimonials from past participants who share how this retreat helped them rediscover each other and create lasting change.

Rooted Connection: Haramara Retreat Reflection

What a gift this retreat was.

The Rooted Connection Couples Retreat at Haramara was more than a week away—it was a deep dive into presence, partnership, and possibility. We were surrounded by ocean breezes, rustling palms, and the open-air sanctuary of the jungle, held in one of the most serene settings we could imagine.

Each couple arrived with courage in their hearts and a willingness to show up—not just for the retreat, but for each other. It was truly moving to witness the way each pair leaned into the process: sharing stories, facing old patterns with compassion, and opening up to new ways of connecting. The conversations were rich, the work was deep, and the vulnerability shared around the circle became the thread that bound us together.

We practiced yoga every day—sometimes solo, often as partners—using breath and movement to ground and reawaken the body. We shared incredible meals that nourished more than our stomachs, and we paused often… to reflect, to rest, and to listen to the wisdom rising within and between us.

Our ceremonies were transformative—woven with intention, presence, and reverence. These sacred spaces helped us shed what no longer served and invite in what might just be possible.

As facilitators, we left feeling full of gratitude—and inspired. Inspired by the resilience and love we witnessed. Inspired by the beauty of this land. And inspired to offer more spaces like this. So stay tuned—more retreats are coming.

With heart,

Testimonials

Jim and Lisa’s couples retreat in Haramara was nothing short of remarkable.

My wife and I had been in a process of reflecting on how we can better connect and focus on us—rather than defaulting to simply showing up to support and cheerlead for each other in our careers, goals, and shared focus as parents who are all just so… busy.
When we learned about the retreat, it felt right—perfect timing, the right place, and a space to get away from the noise, routines, stressors, and pressures of daily life for some extremely intentional time together. A year or so ago, if we were presented with this opportunity, we might’ve had all the reasons (and excuses) why it would be too hard to take a week away. That mindset would’ve only been more evidence of why we needed it—but this time, we were in a place where we recognized the power of making this investment in ourselves and our relationship.
The setting and duration were fantastic—everything you need to truly unplug, surrounded by the serene, picturesque, peaceful, and living jungle. The accommodations and food were rave-worthy, but it was the structure and sessions that really set our experience apart. We had a feeling the process would be life-changing, but the depth of it revealed itself simply through being.
Jim and Lisa offered a dynamic, collaborative East-meets-West approach to truly understanding ourselves in order to free from constraints—and then freely connect with our partners. The group environment was incredibly supportive, with each couple contributing reflections and insights that became shared lessons. We were all both teachers and students in a genuinely holistic community.
The sessions were deeply meaningful, bringing forth insight far beyond surface-level “communication skills,” and into what felt like profound lessons in knowing and understanding. The balance of workshop sessions, yoga to release and focus, meditation, sound baths, traditional sweat lodge, and couple’s ceremonies was incredibly thoughtful. The entire design created space for deep learning, honest conversation, healing, and the kind of decompression that allows you to simply be present.
There’s so much more I could say about the retreat—and maybe more importantly, about how much we came to know, trust, and appreciate Jim and Lisa as they shared both professional and personal wisdom. We highly recommend this experience to any couple looking to take their relationship to the next level (which includes deeper love and compassion for self). We’ve already talked about how many people in our circle would benefit from this—and we’d absolutely return.
